Becky’s Blog

Although I have always been into my beauty regime, I never realised just how many therapies/treatments there is available to indulge in! Since working at thebodyguide.co.uk all kinds of weird and wonderful treatments have caught my eye and intrigued me… Colonic Hydrotherapy, Emo-Trance and Endermologie are three to say the least.
When perusing the websites’ A-Z of treatments it is irresistible not to click on categories that have bizarre names such as ‘Rolfing’ and ‘Male genital waxing’. That’s the beauty of this website; even if you don’t have a preference of what treatment you want to find out more about, you can simply browse the site and learn more about the wide-range of treatments you never knew existed.
It’s fun for any journalist to learn new things, but it’s an added bonus when these things can help maintain a good well-being!

Career goals
By Ruth | March 19, 2008
Just on the net and looking through some pieces on the body guide, as you do, and realised just how strange and satisfying it is to see your work where everyone can see it. It really is a lot harder than it seems to be able to write something that people will want to read and possibly re-visit. Fuel for Thought, my latest entry is actually on the home page and like any buddy journalist, I’m as pleased as punch!

Rookie journalist

Finally I’ve managed to complete some work with minimal assistance! I began with a write-up of a natural treatment consisting of fermented papaya. Although it may sound strange, Papaya Forte can aid the immune system and give you a well needed boost to a busy lifestyle. I also managed to churn out 2 articles. The first on obtaining your dreams, the second on an anti ageing seminar in Berlin. I am feeling slightly impressive at the moment dispite the fact that I spent 10mins trying to decide whether I was spelling anti-ageing/anti-aging correctly. Then a further 10mins deciding whether to use a dash or not. Umm, not so clever after all.

Technology for Marketing
By Petath | February 13, 2008
We attended the Technology for Marketing exhibition at Earls Court today. It is such a growing industry, it was packed and 3 of the 4 presentations we wanted to see were full half an hour before they started which is crazy. We did manage to see the keynote presentation from the UK Director of Marketing of Google, Dan Cobley which was fascinating. To see how quickly the market can change. 5 years ago it would take twice as long to get 10 million subscribers as it does now - basically a new wave gets bigger, quicker!
It did highlight how important it is to engage with your customers so it is not just a one way communication of mass emails and posting of information on websites. I would love to start communication with people who use our sites.
Do you like them? Are they easy to use? What would help make them better?
Anyone want to talk to us?

A lot of things …
By monah | February 13, 2008
Hi! I have to admit that it’s a long time that I haven’t written anything but it doesn’t mean that I haven’t done many things ..haaa! Well, for the last few days I’m focused on the new competitions under reader offers and new events. I have updated the site with 2 different competitions. One of them is quite interesting because people can get a FREE weight management advice booklet. And this is not all: people can choose between four different titles and the competition part is that visitors have the chance to win one of 10 packs of LIPObind, which is a product to remove undigested fats and calories from a standard meal. Sounds really good, doesn’t it? Our visitors have the same opinion! We’re receiving lots of entries every day! The other competition is attracting a lot of people as well! MET-Rx is a sports nutrition brand and our visitors can win 2 Starter Packs. Each pack contains 10 different products and all those who use nutrition to achieve their goals are joining the competition. Now I finish telling about the new events. I have uploaded the Events Page with two events: The Essential Beauty & Body Show and the Natural Living Show. The first one will demonstrate new beauty treatments, cosmetic surgery trends, antiageing products, hair care and salons. The last one is about home made and organic foods, fair trade gifts and products for sale, including crystals, relaxation tapes and CD’s, books, Aromatherapy Oils hand made designer silver jewellery, spices and herbs, natural skin care, etc. I’m sure our visitors are going to take note of the dates and enjoy all of them!

Work experience part 2
By priscilla | February 11, 2008
Today I did treatment guides about the different forms of radiofrequency therapy and learnt there were many options for people looking to get rid of that wrinkle or line in a relatively harmless way. There are some that use infrared light aswell such as Thermage which makes for an even safer expereince as energy levels can then be lowered. I also found out about a procedure for removing cellulite called VelaSmooth which is the first and only medically approved method and also non-invasive, so good for anyone who is at all worried about side-effects and scarring.

Isn’t it funny how budding journalists, like myself, create an image of a “Lois Lane” occupation. Armed with clipboard and pen, camera around the neck, power suit and ferocious ambition you imagine your role to be very romantic. Working for The Body Guide has aloud me too see just how far journalism has evolved. I have no clipboard and sadly no power suit but…it’s GREAT! People are actually going to read what I am writing. Playground Pump classes by Cannon leisure group is my first assignment and it genuinely seems like an fun way to exercise (it there is such a thing) which includes the whole family.

The Perfect Pout
By Jessica | February 6, 2008
There is so many different cosmetic surgeries out there to fix so many things! The list just goes on and on. I can’t believe it! I’ve been working (while intermittently checking on the U.S. elections) on getting some information on the website about lip augmentation (enhancement) and I am stunned at the amount of options people have today…a lot of which seem to be outdated almost as quickly as they appear. I stumbled upon a very odd one today in fact. There is a procedure that takes skin/tissue from dead people who have agreed to donate their organs and put it through a sterialization process before putting it in someone elses lips so that they may acheive a perfect pucker! This, along with a number of other lip plumping procedures, will appear on www.theCosmeticSurgeryGuide.co.uk soon, so be sure to check it out! I will definately leave here with a brain jam-packed with odd and up-and-coming procedures. I have to jet early today…I’m going to my first football match…England vs. Swizerland. It should be a fun time!
